The Masons of California has won three 2018 EXCEL Awards! Every year, digital publishing company Association Media & Publishing (AM&P) holds the EXCEL Awards competition to recognize excellence and leadership in nonprofit association media, publishing, marketing, and communications. Organizations from a wide variety of membership industries – from science journals to nonprofit organizations – competed to win in several categories. This year’s finalists were selected from more than 840 entries.

The Masons of California has received EXCEL Awards since 2008, when was recognized for Site Design Excellence. This year, during the Annual EXCEL Awards Gala, the fraternity was honored with awards in three categories. These awards will be included in AM&P’s August/September issue of “Signature” magazine.

These industry-wide recognitions are a testament to the timeless values of Freemasonry, and the meaningful work California Masons are involved in every day.

GOLD: Integrated Mixed Media: Let's Write the Future Campaign
In 2016, the California Masonic Foundation launched Let’s Write the Future – our largest-ever fundraising campaign. The campaign supports childhood literacy in California public schools and providing advanced care vulnerable elder Masons.

The impactful marketing collateral developed for this campaign celebrates the values of California Masonry, recognizes the brothers who make our fraternity’s good work possible, and inspires members to take part in our culture of Philanthropy. Learn more about the Let’s Write the Future campaign.

SILVER: Special Report: 300th Anniversary Commemorative Edition
In 2017, California Freemason magazine paid tribute to the 300th anniversary of Freemasonry by creating three back-to-back issues that celebrated the past, present, and future of Freemasonry. These three issues were bound together in a beautiful limited-edition commemorative book. Each book was packaged in a hand-numbered and hand-crafted commemorative box, which was embellished in gold foil. The books were accompanied by an exclusively minted keepsake coin.

This commemorative edition celebrated the tercentennial anniversary of Freemasonry, connected the California fraternity with the worldwide brotherhood, and engendered a sense of pride among our members. Purchase a copy of this award-winning book.

BRONZE: Video: Heed the Call
“Heed the Call” is a video that was created for the Let’s Write the Future Campaign. Its scenes portray important experiences recognizable to all Masons – such as taking the oath of obligation – and reinforce the iconic Masonic symbol of the square and compass as a reminder of members’ moral obligation to aid one another in times of distress.
