An Extraordinary Legacy

This year's UCLA International Conference, taking place April 7 in Los Angeles, will honor the legacy of esteemed Masonic scholar Margaret Jacob, who is retiring from UCLA this year. María Eugenia Vázquez Semadeni, a noted Mexican Masonic scholar, will share how Jacob's legacy has influenced Masonic research around the world.

Vázquez studied under Jacob at UCLA in a postdoctoral capacity. Her talk will explain how Jacob transformed historical studies by inserting Freemasonry within the framework of Enlightenment ideals, giving new insight into the culture that preceded Enlightenment ideas, and showing how Freemasons made these new social structures a reality.

Vázquez has written extensively on Mexican Freemasonry, and has been a guest speaker throughout the world on the topics of Freemasonry and Masonic history. She will be joined by several other noted Masonic scholars, including:

Conference registration is $30. Add a delicious Southern-style buffet lunch for just $20!
