Residents, staff, and volunteers at the Masonic Home at Union City and Acacia Creek are celebrating the completion of their third annual Walk to Wellness campaign. This popular event encourages community members to live healthy and active lifestyles.
“The goal of Walk to Wellness is to increase the amount of physical activity the residents and staff engage in through awareness,” explains Penny Vittoria, lifestyle coordinator at the Home.
This year’s campaign began with a community photo, for which all participants donned brightly-colored team t-shirts, and ended with a finish line barbecue celebration. More than 280 Homes residents, staff, and volunteers joined 114 Acacia Creek residents and staff for this year’s campaign, walking an inspiring combined total of 64,740,218 steps.
The Masonic Homes of California and Acacia Creek are modeled on a successful aging philosophy of care, which focuses on overall health and personal growth at all stages of life. To learn more, visit masonichome.org and “like” the California Masonic Assistance Facebook page.
