Together we make a profound difference

Passing the Baton

On June 23, members of Anacapa Lodge No. 710 in Oxnard participated in the Relay for Life – a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Thirteen lodge members were joined by an applicant and one member’s son for the relay, which took place at Port Hueneme High School. At least one team member was required to be actively walking or jogging throughout the 24-hour period, which ran from 9:00 a.m. Saturday through 9:00 a.m. Sunday.

The relay was a rewarding experience for participants. Senior Warden Ignacio Lopez reports that all team members enjoyed “camaraderie, fellowship, and invigorating exercise.”

The lodge’s participation was met with overwhelming support from the local community – team members collected more than $1,500 in donations for the American Cancer Society to aid cancer research.
