The competition is heating up: Once again California lodges have teamed up with the Junior Giants, the flagship program of the San Francisco Giants Community Fund, to provide mitts to program participants.
Through Masons4Mitts, regional teams of Northern California Masons strive to fund the greatest number of mitts for the Junior Giants.
The mitts, which are emblazoned with the Masons of California logo, are given to at-risk youth who participate in the Junior Giants baseball program, provided annually for at-risk youth ages five through 18. About 20,000 children participate in the program each year – 45 percent of whom do not own a baseball glove.
Teams of lodges are in a tight race to provide the most mitts. So far, the San Francisco Sluggers are taking the lead with a total of 175 mitts, followed by the South Bay Bombers at 77 mitts. The Sacramento Cyclones and North Bay Bees are neck-to-neck in third place, with 67 and 57 mitts, respectively.
Lodges have funded more than 400 mitts for the Junior Giants program this year. Be a part of the action! Support your team at Masons4Mitts.org:
