New Training Supports Youth Orders

Sixty-three adult leaders of California youth orders sharpened their skills at the Youth Orders Adult Training Program in November. The inaugural session was hosted at the Northern California DeMolay Annual Convention.

The training program targets the challenges adult leaders face and teaches techniques for fostering positive youth development. It’s the first program to integrate adult volunteers from all California youth orders – DeMolay, Job’s Daughters, and Rainbow for Girls.

The training was developed and led by Larry Newman, co-developer and facilitator of the popular Masonic Student Assistance Program (MSAP).

Adult leaders are critical to the success of youth orders. The Grand Lodge of California, under the supervision of the Youth Orders Committee, sponsored the training as part of the fraternity’s initiative to rebuild Masonic youth orders in California. Future sessions are currently being planned.
